Tissues Flashcards
Simple
one layer of cells
Stratified
more than one layer of cells
Squamous
Flat Cells
Cubodial
square cells
Columnar
Tall cells, oval shaped
Collagen fibers
Thick lines
Elastic
thin lines
Areolar tissue
a bunch of loosely organized fibers
Adipose
Empty looking cells
Reticular
Mesh-looking, has fibroblasts and reticular fibers
Dense regular
looks like squiggly lines, fibers packed together
Dense irregular
randomly arranged fibers, packed together, few visible cells
Hyaline cartilage
clear background, covered in chondrocytes and lacunae (dot-looking things), covered in perichondrium
Elastic cartilage
Covered in perichondrium, it looks like hyaline cartilage but it has visible elastic fibers
fibrocartilage
Contains chondrocytes but is covered in large collagen fibers.
Bone ct
arranged in cylinders, surrounds canal in the middle
Blood ct
covered in plasma, covered in red or white blood cells
Skeletal muscles
has striations, (vertical lines going across fibers)
Smooth muscle
Has no striations (lines going horizontal with big nuclei in middle)
Cardiac muscle
has striations and intercalated discs (bold lines on striations)
Dendrites
Looks like branches on the soma
Axons
the longest peice on the soma
Soma
the cell body, what the axons and dendrites attach to
