Sudden idipathic sensiruneural hearing loss
How is sudden tinnitus and reduced hearing loss investigated?
- send full bloods - haem/bio/autoimmune screen
2. MRI of internal auditory meatus (exclude acoustic neuroma)
Management of sudden SNHL?
steroid (prednisolone) given within 24 hours for 1 week
how is sudden SNHL managed in patients with poorly controlled siabetes/peptic ulder disease etc?
intratympanic steroid injection
what treatment is given if the hearing loss persisits?
hearing aid
How is tinnitus managed?
mainly conservative management
1. tinitus retraining therapy/CBT
- hearing aids/ tinnitus masking devices
