Why are the techniques important?
Without them, each question will seem like an impossible puzzle.
Decision making questions can be interesting, why is this a problem?
Because when you find something interesting, you want to spend more time on it. Don’t waste any time simply because it is interesting.
What should you watch out for?
Be strict with the timing and work quick while keeping an eye out for traps. They sometimes have trick questions.
Syllogisms, what do you do?
Draw a Venn diagram. That’s the fastest way of answering the 5 statements.
There are lots of questions with probabilities. Best method?
The best method is to recognize whether or not the question can be answered by an estimation or needs a precise answer. This will save time.
Logical puzzles. Where is the trap?
People often continue till they have the complete picture. Read the question and keep it in mind, so that you can leave the rest behind after finding the answer.
Interpreting data questions, which order do you do things?
Read the question first and find the answer in the graphs. If the answer is inconclusive or incorrect, put down no. If the answer is correct, put down yes.
Recognizing assumptions is important because…
If you can separate them from the rest, you’ll quickly be able to dismiss the irrelevant ones and hone into the correct answer.

Replace the shapes with letters and solve the equation that way, easily picking out the right answer.
How much time should you be spending per question?
1 minute. 60 seconds or less.
Practice decision making and not decision analysis, why?
Decision analysis was part of the old UKCAT and is a different type of question. Decision making was introduced in 2017.
Are decision making question banks reliable?
Most have quickly compiled some question banks for the updated section, some based on the old section. Expect the exam to have slightly different questions than the practice questions.
The most important thing to do when studying DM is?
Learning the techniques to the core. It is near impossible to quickly find the answer without them.
Blanace your revision, what does that mean?
Make sure to practice all the different types of questions and do them with the learned technique. Note down the ones where you have weaknesses so that you can practice those more.
