• May be necessary if pneumonia, to aid ventilation
• At the time of high viremia may be hazardous and increases risk of:
  Bleeding
  Thrombocytopenia
  DIC
  Hepatitis
  Varicella in the newborn
• Regional anesthesia should take into careful account an area which is lesion free
• Ideally 7/7 should elapse between rash and delivery
