Assess mobility, balance, and risk of falling
> 13.5s: high risk for falls
under 15 seconds (cognitive)
Under 14.5s (manual)
General information
* The pt should sit on a standard armchair, placing his/her back against the chair and resting his/her arms on chairs arms. Any assistive devices used for walking should be nearby
* Regular footwear and customart walking aids should be used
* The pt should walk to a line that is 3 meters away, turn around at the line, walk back to the chair, and sit down
* The test ends when the pts ass touches the seat
* pts should be instructed to use a comfortable and safe walking speed
* A stopwatch should be used to time the test (in seconds)
Set up - measure a mark 3 meters away
Place a standard height chair at the beginning of the walkway
Pt instructions
* Instruct the pt to sit on the chair and place his/her back against the chair and rest his/her arms chairs arms
* The upper extremeities should not be on the assistive device (if used for walking), but it should be nearby
* Demonstrate the test to the pt
* When the pt is ready say go
* The stopwatch should start when you say go, and should be stopped with the pts buttocks touch the seat
