Timber processes Flashcards
What are the three wood processes?
-addition and fabrication process
-forming processes
-wasting processes
What’s addition and fabrication process
Joining pieces of wood with other pieces of wood, one of the most common ways of making products
What are the three addition and fabrication processes explained.
-Traditional wood jointing (learn a couple)
-Knock down fittings: modesty blocks, nuts&bolts, cam-lock connector
-wood processes: screws, nuts, bolts
Name the three Wood wasting processes
Turning
Routing
Milling
(All the same as metal)
Explain turning
Plank of wood spinning and the tool pushes down on it to form cylinder shapes
Explain routing
Small little cylinder spinning so when u move wood over it, it removes the area covered
Explain milling
Kinda like a laser cutter but u move it yourself to cut out the wood
name the two Wood forming processes
Lamination
Steam bending
What is forming process
Forming process is changing the shape of the timber or manufactured board
What is a wasting process
This mean shaping the timber
What is steam bending
The heat makes the wood soft so it can be bent and stretched
Explain lamination
Forming multiple sheets of veneer bonded together
Name and explain the seven traditional wood joints
