Severe pain
Inability to weight bear
Can have clear deformity - angulation or malrotation
Swelling and bruising

A
ATLS Inspect skin - easily opened fracture Full NV examination Urgent bloods - coagulaton, Group and save and X mismatch Xray CT if intra - articular

Mechanism of injury
A
Fall
Direct trauma

Mx
A
ATLS Reduce with analgesia Above knee backslab Elevated immediately Xray and assess NV status
Surgery:
IM nail
Can fully weight bear immediately
Proximal or distal - ORIF with locking playes
