Surgical importance of pre-tracheal fascia
1) Movement up and down of the thyroid gland.
2) Retrostemal extension.
3) Compression manifestation of huge goitre.
4) A thickening of pretracheal fascia between cricoid cartilage and posteromedial aspect of
thyroid gland is called ligament of Berry, the RLN lies behind it and it is liable to injury
during operation at this site.

Carotid sheath+its content ( carotid A, vagus N., int jagular v. , sympa - chain )

It descends with ex. Laryngeal nerve
* the nerve goes deep
