What is compliance
A
- Where individuals change their behaviour and go along with the majority to fit in with the group
- they may not necessarily agree with the behaviour/belief but go along anyway
- leads to public acceptance but no private attitude change
- a most superficial type of conformity

What is identification
A
- conform to the opinions/behaviours of the group because there is something to admire and want to identify with the group so they want to be a part of it
- public changes view/behaviour but doesn’t privately agree with it

What is internalisation
A
- Where the individual accepts the behaviour/belief of the majority and it becomes part of their belief system
- a permanent form of conformity - long-term
- leaders to public and private acceptance
