normal chest configuration
a deformity in which the chest becomes expanded in size
barrel chest
when the ribs and sternum (breastbone) grow inward and form a dent in the chest. This gives it a concave or caved-in shape, which is why the condition is also called “funnel chest” or “sunken chest.” It can be mild or severe.
pectus excavatum (funnel chest)
a deformity of the chest wall in which the breastbone and ribs are pushed outward.
pectus carinatum (pigeon test)
a sideways curvature of the spinethat most often is diagnosed in adolescents.
