  • 50% have organ involvement (abdominal injuries)
  • MVCs (seatbelt) and falls

  • Increased risk of fractures (because no weight bearing –> osteopenic)
  • hypertrophic skin changes –> higher lesion/longer injury
  • Hypertrophic nail chainges –> higher the lesion/longer injury
  • PRESSURE ULCERS
  • DVT

Spinal cord injury without radiographic abnormality (peds)

A
  • 25-50% peds spinal injury –> have no imaging abnormality
  • vertebral bodied are displaced, then return into place so not visible on xray
  • WEAK, BURNING, PARESTHESIA
