Things to Remember on Exam Questions Flashcards
Excitation:
-mention how the energy levels are discrete.
-energy of photons emitted is equal to difference between energy levels for electron.
Fluroscent tube:
Excitation is caused by collisions between electrons due to pd across the gas.
General rule of thumb:
Add ‘per second’ when talking about energy, collisions etc
Work done equation for thermal physics:
Pressure × change in volume = Work done ( not in formula book must be derived )
When comparing wave like and particle like:
Say what it would be like if it was a particle and then what it would be like for a wave.
-particle gives an instant energy transfer - waves don’t
Line spectra and energy levels:
-mention different energy levels correspond to different frequencies/ wavelengths.
When defining Kinetic energy (or energy for anything) of a photoelectron:
Maximum
Graphs:
-be careful with gradients whether negative or not (especially with internal resistance)
-when a question gives you a graph (mostly electricity) - you always need to use it in further parts of the question, if stuck go back to the graph
