Thin Layer Chromatography Flashcards
1
Q
Component eluted first, what does this say about the compound’s acidity or basicity
A
Ibuprofen; more soluble w/solvent (w/o acidic, wako kasabot ani kang mam help), thus also acidic.
2
Q
Relative polarities of aspirin, paracetamol, ibuprofen
A
Para>aspirin>ibuprofen
Para- more polar due to more H-bond acceptors and donors
3
Q
why it is necessary to maintain saturated vapor atmosphere when developing chamber? What happens if not done?
A
Too much solvent would evaporate and not move the compounded further as needed. Movement is dependent to solvent.
