thermoregulation Flashcards
physiological responses to hypothermia
shivering: requires energy, increase metabolic and heat production
piloerection: hair or fur stands up, involuntary response,
physiological responses to hyperthermia
perspiration : liquid sweat realsed from sweat glands, energy is needed for liquid to turn into gas used by the heat energy from blood vessels which cools us down because ur releasing it
write a low temp stimulus response on paper
low temp - thermoreceptors detect drop in temperature in the skin - hypothalamus sends signals and hormones - blood vessels adipose tissue and skeletal muscles- reduce flow of blood, adipose tissue produce heat and shivering
write stimulus response for hyperthermia
increase in body temperature - thermoreceptors in skin detect change - hypothalmus sends - signals- blood vessels - blood vessels dilate liquid sweat is relased from sweat glands releasing heat enegry which cools down ur body
