Thermal/Cryo/ Compression Therapy Flashcards

1
Q

What are the physical principles of tissue heating

A
  1. Conduction ( transfer of heat)
  2. Convection (spreading heat)
  3. Conversion (non thermal to tissue… US)

Q

What are the parameters for compression therapy **

A

Inflation pressure = 30 - 80mmHg just below the patients diastolic pressure
UE = usually low range 30-60mmHg
Higher for venous insufficiency
Lower pressure for residual limb reduction, shaping, and posttraumatic edema

Treatments time is 2-3 hrs
