Cognitive therapy

Cognitive behavioural therapy
combines cognitive therapy (addressing thoughts) with behavioural therapy (changing behaviours)

accepting and supporting someone without judgment no matter what they say or do
Behaviour therapy
eliminates unwanted behaviours to reinforce desirable ones
Counterconditioning
pairing an undesired response to a stimulus with a positive stimulus
Exposure therapy
treats anxieties by exposing patients to the things they fear or avoid
Systematic desensitization
gradually exposing the patient to a fear in a controlled manner (type of exposure therapy)

eliminates unwanted behaviour by associating it with an unpleasant stimulus
