NURSING DIAGNOSIS

The desire to understand and be sensitive to feelings, beliefs, and situation of another person
EMPATHY
It is an act of being open and honest with the other party about how you feel, seeks to resolve feelings, and problems instead of hiding or suppressing them
CONFRONTATION

Phase where it is the foundation of the nurse-client relationship.

ORIENTATION
Personal distance
1 1/2 to 4 ft
Being specific, definite, and vivid rather than vague and general
CONCRETENESS
Valuing the client and being flexible to meet the client’s needs
RESPECT
- Emerges after client clarifies and recognizes interventions that facilitate adaptive changes
- Client optimistic and ready for problem solving
- Exploration of distressful feelings
- Process encourages growth and adaptive coping patterns
IDENTIFICATION
- Influenced by client’s ability to use nurse-client relationship to develop adaptive coping behaviors
- Explores feelings about major aspects of relationship
- Mutually planned and previous stages determine its success
RESOLUTION

It is a complex, dynamic process that involves a sender and a receiver
COMMUNICATION
- Emerges as client appreciates importance of nurse-client relationship
- Client learns how to satisfy his needs through these interactions
- Anxiety emerges as client struggles with dependence and independence factors of relationship
