Communication is a process by which people create and share information with one another in order to reach common understanding.
* The message received must be understood
* No communication takes place unless there is common understanding of the message between the person sending the message and the person(s) receiving it

Seeing the issues through the others’ eyes, feeling their emotions whilst controlling your own. Allows you to remain impartial without judging or sympathizing.

Describe the three receiver response states. Explain why communicators must
know about this concept for successful communication.

A

Attention – We attend to information which can help us to fulfill our wants and needs. Can enhance the possibility of securing receiver attention by: choosing media used by the target audience.

Comprehension – Transforming the message into meanings, Receivers meaning must approximate the sender’s meanings for effective communication

Acceptance - This is the aim.

Belief level – Accepts message as valid
Attitude level – Accepts the message as desirable
Action – Takes action specified in the source’s message
