Theory Lessons Flashcards
What is a component
A part or element of a larger whole.
What is agility
The ability of a sports performer to quickly and precisely move or change direction without losing balance or time.
What is power?
The product of strength and speed; expressed as the work done in a unit of time.
What is balance?
The ability to maintain centre of mass over a base of support.
What is reaction time?
The time taken for a sports performer to respond to a stimulus and the initiation of their response.
What is coordination
The smooth flow of movement needed to perform a motor task efficiently and accurately. Your body working together.
What is the setup for the illinois agility test?
Use a tape measure 8 tall cones a start/finish line and stop watch. Set up. Tall cones in a square 10 metres apart. 4 more cones in a vertical line down the middle of the square 3.3m part with the two cones sitting exactly 5 metres between both cones either side of them horizontally.
Who would use the illinois agility test?
A winger in Football because they need good agility to be able to dribble past defenders.
What is the setup for the standing stork test?
flat surface to balance on ,stopwatch, pen and paper.
Who would use the standing stork test?
Gymnasts would use it for when they are doing a routine on a balancing beam.
What is the test for coordination?
The alternate tennis ball throw
What is the test for reaction time?
The ruler drop test
What is the protocol and setup for the ruler drop test
30cm ruler, pen, paper. place your index finger and thumb at the bottom of the ruler and have somebody hold it at the top; make sure that your thumb and index finger are level with the 0cm mark on the ruler. When the person holding the ruler at the top lets g you hold onto it as quickly as you can using your index finger and thumb. You then measure your reaction based on the number you have made contact with on the ruler. The result will be measured in centimetres and millimetres.
What is the protocol for the tennis ball wall throw?
Stand with both feet behind a marker 2 meters away from the wall holding the tennis ball in one hand.
When time begins throw the tennis ball with one hand and catch with the alternate hand.
Do this for 30 seconds and count how many times you do it without dropping the ball.
If the ball bounces on the floor before you catch it, the throw doesn’t count as a part of your score.
You’re score is recorded based on how many throws and catches your partner counted.
What is the test for body composition
BMI (body mass index)
