what is systems theory?
systems that interact within a boundary an open system provides influence to the individual and other parts as well as the other parts and individual can impact the system (open influence and communication). A closed system is where system has no input from the outside just uses its own energy.
what is family systems?
looks at the family as a system of interacting parts which if one changes the other part is affected (affects the whole system). Clinically the family is the focus for treatment with their social roles and personal interaction. behaviors and communication.
what is structural family therapy ? (minuchin)
stresses importance of family organization for the group to function: boundaries, rules, who does what where when, etc.
what is strategic family therapy?
assuming all problems have multiple origins, a problem is viewed as a symptom /response to current dysfunction in family interaction.
