Acute eyesight, high cheekbones, large ears, enormous jaws, long arms
What did Lombroso see criminality as?
Atavistic, throwbacks to an earlier, primitive stage.

Saw criminals as physically different with body types
What body types did Sheldon discover?
Ecto, endo, mesomorphic
Twin studies: summary?
52% concordance rate that if one twin was a criminal, then the other one would also be one too. Non identical twins had a 22% rate.
Adoption studies: summary?
Adopted child shares the same env. as their adoptive parents, but same genes as birth parents.
Concordance rate for adopted children?
20% rate of a criminal record if birth parent also had one, 15% if their adopted parents had one
Jacob’s XYY study summary?
Extra Y chromosome was labelled as ‘super male syndrome’, tended to be tall, well built and have low intelligence
Evidence?
XYY criminals had a higher proportion of violence and aggressive assaults
Price and Whatmore?
Found that XYY males were immature and unstable
