Theoretical Probability Flashcards
What is an Outcome?
The result of an activity or experiment.
What is a Sample Space?
The set of all possible outcomes for the activity/exercise.
What is an Event?
A subset of the sample space.
What is a Favorable Event?
The receiving of a wanted outcome.
What is an Unfavorable Event?
The receiving of an unwanted outcome.
What is Theoretical Probability?
The study of the total number of possibilities in the sample space of a probability.
What is Calculated Probability?
Another name for Theoretical Probability, because Theoretical Probability is solved mathematically not through experiments.
What is Uniform Probability?
The case in which all outcomes are equally likely to occur.
What is Random Selection?
The choosing from a collection of objects in which you know none of their special characteristics.
