> Intro: First parable on KOG, retell story briefly. Sitz in leben- made the parable effective and memorable. Briefly sum up what you will talk about. 3 parts- parable, question, explanation. TINSLEY says this parable is the closest Jesus comes to explaining himself and his mission>Para 1: Explain allegory>Para 2: What we can learn about God and the KOG>Para 3:How those listening should respond. MARSHALL pointed out that the important point was how people react to the message. Mt more inclusive than Mk uses plural pronouns.>Para 4: Structure, context and wording making the teaching easier to understand. Shock factor- 100 fold= massive turnover>Conc: sum up points. To reap the rewards you must open your hearts and listen. More of a warning rather than encouragement.

Not only for the good. Although the man shows no faith he is grateful. Outcasts welcome. God forgiving>Conc- sum up all points, main teaching is Gods power over evil spirits, Js compassion and that we are all equal

> Intro- brief retelling. Context- Centurion would have been a Gentile. Learn about Jesus, KOG and value of faith. Slight difference in Mt and Lk-in Luke centurion send Jewish elders (source l and m)> Para 1- what we can learn about Jesus (theology)- his power and authority- he can heal without seeing the slave. His love and compassion for all people - ‘i have come to call sinners not the righteous’> Para 2- Importance of faith- Centurion shows greater faith than any in Israel- Attack on Jewish leaders. Man shows incredible faith, although he is not a Jew he believes Jesus can heal his slave without even seeing him, he shows respect to Jesus by not allowing him to come under a Gentiles roof> Para 3- What we can learn about the KOG- everyone is welcome, even Gentile. All are judged by God in the end. Entrance relies on faith> Conc- bring key points together. KOG for all, Js compassion to all, entry relies on faith and attack on Jewish leaders
