how did the changing political landscape change the class system?
the representation of the people act 1918 opened the vote to more working class people who voted for labour as they represented working class needs. this lead to the rise in labour
how did social and cultural change affect the class system?
the 1938 holiday with pay act improved quality of life for the working class and provided more leisure time like the upper class
the launch of metro land provided transport for the middle class from towns and cities into the suburbs allowing them to live within their own private properties, separating them from the other classes
how did the changing economy change the class system?
the war restored old industries which were previously in decline providing a solution to the rise in unemployment
after the first world war, death duties were placed on estates owned by the upper class making it difficult to pay for. Also during the war the gentry were forced to give up their land because the workers were sent off to war and their properties were unprofitable.
the second world war improved quality of life for the working class because of the reforms that the government put in place such as rationing which promoted healthier diets.
