The collapsation of the wall street stock exchange in new york which led to the decline in trade and production. this resulted in cuts being made which macdonald pressed ahead with in 1931
who was stanley baldwin and what did he do?
he was leader of conservatives and adopted protectionism and free trade which attracted liberals to conservatives in defence against labour
what action did stanley baldwin take to help post war?
he donated a fifth of his private fortune to reduce the size of the war loan which weakened the governments coalition as he gained more support from the working class and middle class
how significant was political extremism in the interwar period?
significant becuase facism was a key problem as mosley formed the british union of facists which caused racial discrimination resulting in the battle of cable street, however they didn’t gain support
