Theme 1a Flashcards
Why did psychology have to get rid of spirituality to become a science?
People were mixing the terms psychical and psychological. Psychology was often connected to religion, however, to become a science it had to get rid of all unfalsifiable beliefs.
Who made the first psychological laboratory, when and where? What three strands of thinking did it combine?
It was Wilhelm Wundt, in Leipzig, in 1879. The three strands of thinking - developments from sensory physiology studying sensations, contributions from philosophy of mind which showed that higher mental processes could be studied, medical findings which showed that higher mental processes were linked to the brain.
