What’s the definition of theft ?
A person is guilty of theft if he dishonestly appropriates property belonging to another with the intention of permanently depriving the other of it.
What are the points to prove for a theft offence?

Explain ‘belonging to another’
1) Property shall be regarded as belonging to any person having possession or control of it, or having in it any proprietary right or interest
S2 of the Theft Act 1968 mentions 3 beliefs that would each mean that a person was not acting dishonestly when appropriating property. What are those beliefs?
That they had a legal right to deprive the owner of the property. That the owner would have consented had they known the circumstances.
That the owner could not be found by taking reasonable steps.
A dishonest employee is allowed access to an office in which a small safe holds cash. She finds out the combination and steals cash from inside the safe. Is this theft or burglary?
