What is Nonmediated or live theatre?
Theatre that is not observed through an
electronic medium.
What is the unique quality of theatre?
We call theatre the lively art not only because it is exciting, suspenseful, and amusing but also because it is alive in a way that makes it different from every other form of dramatic presentation. It is this live quality of theatre that makes it so durable, so indispensable, and so impactful.
What is the most significant difference between films and theatre?
The most significant difference between films and theatre is the relationship between the performer and the audience.
No matter how closely a film follows the story of a play, , we are always in the presence of an image, never a living person.

Community theatres: Semiprofessional and
experienced amateur groups that present plays that appeal to their specific
audiences.

Site-specific theatre: Theatre presented in a
nontraditional setting so that the chosen
environment helps illuminate the text.
What is performance art?
Performance art is usually highly individual and presented by only one person but never by more than a small number.
The content is usually quite personal and may be combined with art, dance, film,
or music.
What type of classification does site specific theatre and performanceart come under?
Experimental theatre.
What are the two additional types of theatre to be mentioned when we speak of the wide diversity of theatre?
- Global theatre, which means theatre not just in the Western tradition but theatre from around the world.
- Multicultural theatre provides a valuable forum to affirm, explore, or challenge group identities, beliefs, and practices; has allowed new voices to be heard in theatre
How is theatre everywhere?
- Ways we describe someone (she’s being dramatic, that kid is play acting)
- Religious and civic ceremonies and rituals also have theatrical qualities.
- As adults we also play a number of roles: doctor, lawyer, engineer, nurse, parent, teacher , spouse, political figure.
- Rock concerts, amusement parks, museums, sporting events, and digital media all display and rely on strong theatrical components.

A contraction of costume and play that
combines role-playing,costuming, and social interactions through the
Internet or at conventions.
