What is evaporation?
The change of a substance from a liquid to a gas
What is condensation?
The change of state from a gas to a liquid
What is precipitation?
Any form of water that falls from the clouds and reaches the Earth’s surface
What is transpiration?
Evaporation of water from the leaves of a plant
What is runoff?
Water that flows over the ground’s surface rather than soaking into the ground
What is percolation?
The movement of water through the soil
What is groundwater?
The water that is beneath the Earth’s surface
What is longitude?
Distance east or west of the prime meridian
What is latitude?
Distance north or south of the equator
What are tributaries?
Smaller rivers and streams that flow into a main river
What is a watershed?
The boundary between catchments
What is water scarcity?
The lack of sufficient available water resources to meet the demands of water usage in a certain region
What is the recreational value of water?
Water based activities like; swimming, fishing and kayaking
What is the spiritual value of water?
Indigenous and religious societies use water in many of their practises and rituals.
What is the economic value of water?
Water is used inn growing crops, livestock production and manufacturing.
