The Water Cycle Flashcards
What is step 1 of the water cycle?
The sun heats rivers, lakes, and the sea and causes evaporation.
What is step 2 of the water cycle?
The water vapour then rises into the atmosphere, cools and condenses.
What is step 3 of the water cycle?
These droplets of water clump together with dust particles to create clouds. When these clouds have lots of moisture, precipitation will occur in the form of rain, hail, sleet, and snow.
What 3 things can happen in the 4th step? (1)
The precipitation will fall straight into rivers and streams and be carried straight out to sea.
What 3 things can happen in the 4th step? (2)
Precipitation will infiltrate into the ground where it goes into groundwater and eventually will be carried out to sea through underwater channels.
What 3 things can happen in the 4th step? (3)
The precipitation could also be intercepted by trees. Transpiration can then occur and the water vapour will be taken up into the atmosphere.
