The visual system II Flashcards

1
Q

What is the two streams hypothesis? What is wrong with this hypothesis?

A

Information from the visual cortex is sent to the parietal cortex via the dorsal pathway (important for “where” tasks) and to the temporal cortex via the ventral pathway (for “what” tasks)

Lots of interconnections between pathways, and some “what” tasks take the dorsal pathway/some “where” tasks take the ventral pathway

Q

What are similarities and differences between Visual areas?

A

Areas maintain retinotopic organization
RFs increase from V1 to higher level areas
RF structure becomes more complex and unpredictable
