What are the 4 main stages of the vineyard cycle?
- Budburst
- Shoot and leaf growth

What is a Graft Union
The point on a plant where the graft is joined to the Rootstock
What does ‘Coulure’ mean?
When more flowers than normal fail to fertilise
What does ‘Millerandage’ mean?
When the development of berries is disturbed, can develop with seeds and remain small.
What is the advantage of Millerandage?
Sometimes desirable for sweet wine and seedless grapes can be intensely sweet
What temp is needed for Budburst?
10 degrees
What is Winter Dormancy and when does it occur?
It is an onset of cold weather and makes the shoots become woody. The vines will store their carbohydrates on their roots.
It occurs Dec-March (Northern hem) July-Sept (Southern)
When does Budburst occur? (for Northern and Southern hemisphere)
Northern - March to April
Southern - Sept to Oct
