The Universe Theories Flashcards

1
Q

Redshifts

A

Red is the wavelength of light that reaches the farthest. So, if red light is more visible from one galaxy than it was at another time, it proves that the galaxies are getting farther apart, just like stated in the Big Bang Theory.

Q

Steady State

A

The Universe does not change like ever. Perfect Cosmological Principle– Universe is infinite, infinitely old, and the same in all directions at all times past and future.

Q

CMB or Cosmic Microwave Background

A

Leftover radiation observed, proves that universe was once hot and dense, like Big Bang Theory!

Q

Big Bang

A

Hypothesis of the primeval atom!
Primeval matter was originally thought to be neutrons at very high temp and density!
SINGULARITY
Universe expands constantly, distance between galaxies increases!
Gets cooler and less dense on expansion
