What is the UN
A Treaty organisation established by the UN Charter
What is the process of joining the UN?
The Security Council recommends membership and the General Assembly passes a resolution

The GA is not a debating chamber but just an assembly of all states that recommends resolutions that influence customary law and other institutional bodies

The permanent five members of the Security Council hold veto powers namely; the United States of America, People’s Republic of China, Russian Federation, the French Republic and United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

It allows the SC to do pretty much anything regarding threats to peace and security
