Was Germany given a say in the treaty?
No, it was worked out in secret by the victors.
Was Germany blamed for the war?
Yes, otherwise the Allies would not have legal justification for their actions. Germany was forced to admit responsibility.
Were Reparations at an unreasonable level?
Yes, they were asked to pay £6.6 billion. They only paid off £1.6 billion by 1932. The economy was unable ot cope.
What happened to lots of German people?
They found themselves in different countries. This countered the idea of Self Determination, although it was usually applied.
What happened to Germany’s army?
Its army was decreased to 100,000 men, which was tiny for such a large country. The navy and air force was disbanded and the Rhineland was demilitarised. IN 1924, France invaded Ruhr to take reperations.
What happened to Germany’s colonies?
They were taken away and given to Britain and France.
What was forbidden?
The unification of Germany and Austria.
