Main components of the Treaty of Versailles
Germany to pay financial reparations (war) to allied countries(6.6 billion in 1921) , lose territory, give up all it’s overseas colonies, reduce the size of it’s military (reduced to 100,00 men) and accept guilt for the war.
What was the Treaty of Versailles?
A compromise between President Wilson’s fourteen points, his desire to make a ‘just peace’ and the French leader Clemenceau’s desire for revenge. The league of nations was created as a result of the treaty.
When was the Treaty created?”
It was created and signed on June 28, 1919. It was one of the first official peace treaties that ended WW1.
Who were the main countries involved and their leaders?
Known as the “big four”, they met in Paris to negotiate the Treaty
