  1. Open diplomacy without secret treaties
  2. Economic free trade on the seas during war and peace
  3. Equal trade conditions
  4. Decrease armaments among all nations
  5. Adjust colonial claims
  6. Evacuation of all Central Powers from Russia and allow it to define its own independence
  7. Belgium to be evacuated and restored
  8. Return of Alsace-Lorraine region and all French territories

France’s wants

A

Wanted land like Alsace Lorraine returned and wanted land to feel secure. The people wanted Germany to pay for their actions. Reduce the army so the couldn’t attack France again. Germany to pay and accept guilt. Didn’t agree with LoN.

Britain’s wants

A

Wanted Germany weak to not attack but not crippled. Help secure France but not let them get too powerful. Navy weakened to not start war but not seek revenge. Saw them responsible but didn’t want to completely humiliate. In middle of LoN.

A

Rhineland demilitarized and occupied by Allied troops. Germany lost 13% of its European territory and all overseas territory and colonies.

A

France received Saar and its colonies. £6.6 billion to be paid in reparations, by Germany, £284 2021 equivalent.

A

Germany to cut army to 100,000 soldiers and forbid conscription. Couldn’t have more than 6 battleships and no submarines. No Airforce allowed at all.

Germany had to accept full responsibility for losses and damage caused by the war under 231.

A

Formation of the League of Nations. Germany was initially excluded until 1926. Used some of the 14 Points.

Lost lots of resources and land. Outcast from international politics and excluded from League of Nations. Signed by the Weimar Republic.

People were promised victory and felt betrayed. They felt humiliated by their loss and treatment.
