Why did a loss of fit workers cause problems for Africa?
because the most sought out slaves were young, fit males, Africa had less people to do the farm labour, as the younger males did a large amount of the heavy labour. It negatively affected Africa as there was less food, leading to starvation, and a lower immunity.
Why did A decline in population cause problems for Africa?
This was also as most slaves were young people, which left Africa with only the elderly and children living there, with few young adults. This meant that not as many people reproduced, which led to a population decline, further decreasing the amount of fit able workers.
What problems did African cheifs cause for Africa?
This was because African chiefs sold slaves, which led to the more powerful chiefs becoming extremely wealthy. This meant that there was a huge divide between the rich and the poor, and as there was so few people who had almost all the wealth, it meant that the majority of Africans at the time were extremely poor.
They also caused more wars, as they were now motivated to go to war to collect war prisoners to sell as slaves, leading to a high death toll.
How was Africa affected by more disease?
This was because the Europeans brought several diseases that Africa had never encountered before, such as smallpox. The Africans were also malnourished due to the lack of food, which meant that they were even more susceptible to disease as their immunity was weakened. They also were not able to buy any treatment or vaccinations due to the lack of wealth.
What problems did population movement cause for Africa?
This happened as the Africans did not want to be captured, so they moved inland to attempt to get away from the slave factories. This led to further malnourishment, as there was a lack of food and water inland.
