The tissue Flashcards
Meristems
Region where active cell division happen
Apical meristems
occur at the tip of roots and shoots
occur at tip of roots and shoots produce primary tissues
Axillary bud
meristem cells left behind from shoot apical meristem
During formation of leaves and elongation of stem some cells left back
During the formatiion of leaves and elongation of stem , some cells left behind from shoot apical mereistem constitute the** axillary bud **
Use:
Such buds are present on the axiles of leaves and are capable of forming a branch or flower
Primary meristem
Apical meristems and intercalary meristems
Both apical meristems and intercalary meristems are primary meristem
They consider primary meristem because they apear early in life of a plant and atribute to the formation of the primary plant body .
Intercalary meristem
meristem which occur between mature tissues
meristem which occurs between mature tissues is intercalary meristem
The meristerm which occurs between mature tissues is known as intercalary meristem .
They occur in grasses and regenerate parts removed by the grazing herbivores
Secondary meristem
Secondary or lateral meristem , . They are cylindrical meristems
That produce woody axis and appers after than primary meristem.
meristem occurs in the mature region of shoots and roots of many plants
The meristem occurs in the mature region of shoots and roots of many plants
That produce woody axis and appers after than primary meristem is called Secondary of lateral meristems
Example of lateral meristem
Fascicular vascular cambium , interfascicular cambium and Cork cambium
These are responsible for producing the secondary tissues
During the formation of the primary plant body , specific regions of the apical meristem produce
dermal tissue, ground tissue and vascular tissue
Mature cells
