• King and company go to banquet created by Ariel
• Ariel as a harpy drives Alonso, Antonio and Sebastian mad for usurping Prospero
• climax of play
What happens in Act 4 Scene 1
• Prospero gives Ferdinand and Miranda blessing to get married, throws masque for them
• Prospero’s revelation monologue ‘we are such stuff as dreams are made on’
• Prospero and Ariel set up trap for Caliban, Trinculo and Stephano when they get to Prospero’s cell
• Prospero’s spirits as dogs then chase the trio away into a bog
• Prospero promises Ariel’s freedom
What happens in Act 5 Scene 1
• Prospero gathers King and company, releases them from the spell of the harpy and forgives them all
• Gonzalo’s fate monologue
• Alonso and Ferdinand reunite, gives the couple his blessing
• Prospero forgives Stephano, Trinculo and Caliban, sets Caliban free
• Prospero sets Ariel free
• Prospero’s epilogue, asks for the audiences applause to set him free
