The structural adjustment program is a development path or strategy that once became popular among third world countries. This program was aimed at saving economies of the countries of the third world that are experiencing economic problems by correct some structural imbalances . It was adopted in 1986 by the babangida administration after years of economic austerity measures . The oil boom was a period of prosperity to the extent that the head of state at that time,yakubu Gowon was once quoted to have boasted that Nigeria problem was no longer money but what to do with money.
