What is eczema and how it is classified?
Eczema are itchy red eruption of the skin consisting of patches and can be be classed as chronic or acute.
Describe chronic eczema.
Chronic eczema is described as a thickened epidermis occurring to do consistent and excessive scratching.
Describe Acute Eczema.
Acute eczema is inflammatory where oedema in epidermis collects into ting blisters. Loss of fluid during flare ups allows allergens to cause inflammation due to defective barrier.
What sites on the body are affect by Eczema?
Eczema can form on the face, elbows, knees, wrist, ankle and hands.
What factors provoke eczema?
Factors that can provoke eczema include temperature, irritants, stress, bacterial/Viral infections and allergens.
What treatment is given to patients with Eczema?
Emollients, topical corticosteroids. (Hydrocortisone)
What is Psoriasis and how does it appear on the skin?
Psoriasis is a chronic relapsing inflammatory disorder displaying lesions on the skin.
What causes Psoriasis in a patient?
Genetics, skin trauma and environmental factors can lead to Psoriasis.
What treatment is given to patients with Psoriasis?
Topical emollients, keratolytics, coal tar, vitamin A/D and steroids.
