A
- Strach foods e.g. pasta/rice
- Used for slow release/bursts of energy
- Useful for long distancxe runners, footballers and rowers
- Provides energy
- Body cells and tissues requires glucose
- Any extra glucose is stored in the liver and muscles
- Body’s prefered source of energy
- Found in the blood

Fats
A
- Fat gives short bursts of energy
- Used for when the body has run out of fuel
- Stored as extra energy
- Useful in shot activities e.g. athletic throws/sprinting
- Weighs less than muscle
- Made of fatty acids and glycerol
- Triglycerides
- Saturated fats
- Unsaturated fats
- Used in low intensity exercise

- Made of chains of amino acids
- Helps build muscles
- Useful for weight lifters/ Power athletes
- Found in meat/beans/fish
- Minor source of energy
- Essential and Non-Essential
