The Service Flashcards
What are the four scopes of the service?
Exterior Perimeter Spray
Exterior Granulation
Interior Crack and Crevice Treatment
Exterior De-webbing
Describe Exterior Perimeter Spray
This is the bread and butter of pest control. Using a backpack high-pressure sprayer or a power sprayer that is hooked up to a truck, the technician will spray a liquid product [2-3 feet up against the house, and 2-3 feet on the ground away from the house. This is done all the way around.] The basic idea is to create a barrier that kills the bugs. Products will vary by location and season.
Describe Exterior Granulation
Imagine granules of sand coated in a product that controls pest. This sand is usually dis-persed with a hand spreader ~10 feet out beyond the perimeter spray. It doesn’t need to cover the whole yard to keep pests away from the home.
Describe Interior Crack and Crevice treatment
The technician will treat kitchens, bathrooms, and any other area as needed with products in an indoor liquid pump can, duster, gel baits, etc. Indoor treatments rarely need to be repeated since the products do not get worn down by the elements.
Describe Exterior De-Webbing service
The technician will use the de-webber to remove spider webs and wasp/mud-dauber nests from the eaves of the home (up to about 20 feet high). The de-webber can also be used in other areas upon request. People love this because their home looks much better afterwards.
What about extra pest control services?
Extra pest control services such as yard spot treatments, full-yard treatments, sheds, etc.
will require details from your local branch.
What to tell customers about what the technician will/won’t do..
It is good to know the general protocol for treatments in your specific branch, so consult with your branch manager and sales manager regarding typical products and how they work. However, do not tell customers exactly what a technician or the products will or won’t do. This is a recipe for an unsatisfied customer. Just as there are often several things a doctor could prescribe a patient to resolve a problem, the technician has plenty of options to control the pests, and they are the licensed applicators, not the salesman.
What is the problem with organic products?
Organic products are expensive, smell VERY strong, don’t last long, and don’t work near as well as our typical products.
What are our products derived from?
The products are derived from the chrysanthemum flower and enhanced to work stronger, longer, and in some cases safer than organic treatments.
What are some characteristics of micro-encapsulated products?
—they are time released and not ruined by water. The products attach to hair follicles of pests, and are then spread to the others.
Can pests see the product?
Some products are designed to be invisible to pests so they track it back to the queen or the remainder of their colony.
Can pests get around the product easily?
Some products are designed to create a barrier pests won’t want to cross.
Why do we use pyrethroids?
Mammals are not receptive to pyrethroids (99% of what we use are pyrethroids).
Do customers need to leave the house?
Customers don’t need to leave the house during or after treatments.
What to do if they have birds or fish?
Notify the technician if they have birds or fish (these just require different products).
