What happenes in reconciliation
You say sorry for your sins and experience God’s healing through forgiveness
What is the definition of sin ?
An act or attitude that goes against Jesus’ teachings
What is penance ?
Any act or a set of actions done out of repentance , for sins committed
Something phisical you do show you want to be forgiven
What is absolution ?
The remission sin , or of the punishment due to sin , granted by the church.
What sacrament is the sacrament of reconciliation
A sacrament of healing because the priest forgave our sins
What is a penitent
A person who seeks forgiveness
What does mortification mean ?
Overcoming sinful behaviours
What is passive mortification and active mortification ?
Passive = offering up struggles and suffering to God so a person can grow from them
Active = doing something to make up for sinfulness with the hope of not doing it again ( physical action )
What are the effects of of the sacrament of reconciliation?
It releases burden and guilt and bring someone closer to God
Why do Catholics receive reconciliation?
To change and become better and get closer to God
