A

French invaded the Ruhr in 1923 as it was a rich industrial part of Germany. The French had debts with the US they needed the reparation money to pay off.

A

Printing more money helped the government pay the striking workers. It was a vicious cycle: the more prices rose, the money was printed, resulted in yet more rising prices. By 1923 prices had reached spectacular heights, and the German currency effectively became worthless.
