He was too central - neither the extreme left or right liked him

Stopped the printing of old money and replaced it with the new currency. It reduced hyperinflation and stopped it from becoming worse.
How effective was the Rentenmark
People quickly accepted and adjusted to the new currency.
People never got there savings pack and blamed Stresemann and his government
What was the Dawes plan
The British and US governments organised a committee of experts to discuss the issue of reparations. The five nations represented on the Dawes Committee were USA, UK, Italy, Belgium and France. America would lone 800 million marks to Germany.
What did the Dawes plan forced France and Belgium to do
Pull out of the Ruhr as quick as possible. Giving full control back to Germany
Why was the Young plan installed
Germany could not meet the huge payments especially as it was consistent
What did the Young plan do
Reduced the total reparation by 20% and where given longer to pay it back (59 years)
Was the Dawes and Young plan effective
It helped get Germany their industrial land back, had support from the US, had less reparations to pay and longer to pay it.
Some Germans, felt that Stresemann got bullies into accepting the deal and should have demanded the complete removal of the reparations. Their economy relied on the Americans
What did Stresemann do with the US loans
He used the majority for the reperations, however some was used to build factories, schools, hospitals and roads.
