What were the causes of WWII?

A

In many ways WWII resulted for unfinished business from WWI. Feelings of nationalism and imperialism were still around as well as the humiliation and anger felt by the Germans.

A

Hitler stopped paying reparations, he withdrew Germany from the League of Nations, he built up the army, and he sent soldiers into lands put off by the limits of the treaty.

A

Hitler announced the unification of Germany and Austria. He then announced he was taking over a part of Czechoslovakia. France and Britain let Hitler have his way because they wanted to keep the peace and avoid another conflict.

How did the appeasement fail?

A

Ignoring agreements with France and Britain, Hitler soon took over the rest of Czechoslovakia. Seeing that the greater powers would not intervene, Italy took over Albania. France and England began preparing their militaries, when they saw that the appeasement only showed weakness.
