What is it: King made a proclamation that blocked all settlements West of the Appalachian mountains, causing all land claims there to become invalid.
Significance: Caused Americans to become resentful.
Sugar Act

What is it - A tax imposed on products in order to pay for troops to protect the colonists from the French and Indian War. Aimed to prevent the smuggling of sugar and molasses by decreasing the amount of tax charged.
Significance - angered colonists because they believed they didn’t need protection.

What is it - increased surveillance and tax. imposed search warrants that allowed any custom officials to search homes of people they suspected had smuggled goods.
Significance - unpopular among everyone, increasing tension.
Currency Act

What is it - colonies starting using paper money due to the lack of gold in America, but was banned by the currency act.
Significance - caused economic problems and bankruptcy for many.
Quartering Act

What is it - caused a lot of propaganda, however what actually happened was soldiers were required to stay in barracks provided by the colonies.
Significance - NY assembly refused to enforce the requirements, so the British suspended them because they were viewed as further oppression.
Stamp Act

- led to the formation of the Stamp Act Congress (who claimed “no taxation without representation”.

What is it - they are local groups who protested against the Stamp Act.

Year: happened throughout the entire revolution
Who are they: dissatisfied with the tyranny in Britain, so they were women who organised boycotts to avoid buying British goods. They created American products instead.
Significance: women became apart of the anti-British efforts.
