Why were some people unhappy with the Catholic Church?
Some people were unhappy because: 1. the church services were in Latin so they couldn’t feel close to god. 2. They church was very wealthy since they owned 33.3% of the land and 10 of the peasants harvest each year called Tithe. 3. The poor people couldn’t afford INDULGENCES so they were being punished for being poor.
Who was Martin Luther and what role did he play in protests against the Catholic Church?
Martin Luther was a German Monk who wrote a long list of things that are wrong with the Catholic Church and it was called the 95 Thesis and his ideas and beliefs attracted so many followers that they started the Protestant Church.
How did ‘Protestants’ get their name?
They got there name because of their PROTESTS against the Catholic Church.
What is meant by the term ‘Reformation”?
Reformation means to reform (change) something for the better. This Reformation changed the church.
How were Catholic and Protestant churches similar and different in decoration and beliefs?
Both Catholics and Protestants were originally Christians. Catholic services were Latin while Protestant services were in the Native Language also Catholic Church’s were Fancy while Protestant Church’s were plain.
Why did Henry VIII make himself Head of the Catholic Church in
England?
Henry VIII made him self the head of the church so that he could give himself the divorce papers to get divorced with Catherine of Aragon.
What actions did Henry take in his role as Head of the Church in
England?
He changed the religion in England from Catholic to Protestant.
